Email Obfuscation Broken
About two weeks ago I tried a really simple way of obfuscating email. To me as a programmer it seemed a little bit naive because this scheme can be easily decoded. But Gmail does such a nice job of getting rid of spam these days anyway, I felt like I didn’t have much to lose.
None of the addresses on any of The Webmeister’s web sites, that began life in this format, has ever received any spam.
Well good for you Webmeister, I haven’t been that lucky though…
The first week nothing much happened but the last seven days has seen a massive increase of spam to my blogger email address, some of it which is getting past even Gmail’s filters. I ended up replacing my email address with an image instead, is there a better way?
